What is HRV and ERV cleaning?

HRV and ERV cleaning removes the dust, debris and contaminants that collect in the unit, its filters and its ducting. Left alone, that buildup gets pushed into the fresh air entering your home. New Age cleans the cabinet, blower, core, filters, duct connections and grilles, then tells you how often to maintain it.

What the service includes

  • Cleaning of the unit cabinet, blower components and internal surfaces
  • Cleaning of supply and exhaust duct connections
  • Removal and cleaning of reusable filters and core components, where accessible
  • Air washing of filters and the heat exchange core
  • Cleaning of all associated vents and grilles

How HRVs and ERVs work

Heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) and energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) improve indoor air quality by continuously swapping stale indoor air for fresh outdoor air. They recover heat from the outgoing air, and ERVs recover moisture too, then transfer it to the incoming air to keep ventilation energy-efficient.

Why they need cleaning

Dust, debris and contaminants accumulate in the unit, the filters and the ducting. Without proper maintenance, that buildup can be redistributed into the air coming into your home or facility, lowering air quality and performance.

Commercial-grade equipment

Our technicians clean the whole HRV or ERV system with high-powered vacuum systems, compressed air and agitation tools.

Guidance for between cleanings

When the job is done, we give you guidance on proper maintenance intervals so your system keeps running efficiently between professional cleanings.

HRV & ERV Cleaning questions

Both continuously exchange stale indoor air for fresh outdoor air and recover heat from the outgoing air. An ERV also recovers moisture.

The unit cabinet, blower components and internal surfaces, the supply and exhaust duct connections, reusable filters and core components where accessible (air washed), and all associated vents and grilles.

Dust and contaminants build up in the unit, filters and ducting. If it isn't maintained, that buildup can be pushed into the fresh air entering your home.

It depends on your system and how it's used. After every cleaning, we give you guidance on maintenance intervals so it keeps running efficiently.
